	Union of Composers and Musicologists replenished Around two months ago, Aram Satyan became the Chairman of the Union of Composers. Since then, the departments of musicology, chamber, children and entrance were restored. The foreign branch of the Union of Composers was also established, which is run from the US. Owing to that, Armenian composers with have an opportunity to present their works abroad in May. These days the Union was replenished with nine new members.

	Opening of memorial stone to the memory of ASALA in Vanadzor On the eve of the Armenian Army, a celebratory Divine Liturgy was offered in all Armenian Apostolic Churches. At the Divine Liturgy in Vanadzor Holy Mother of God Church, the victimized Armenians of ASALA, Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia, were also recalled. At the end of the ceremony, in the Martyrs’ Park nearby the Church, a memorial stone to the memory of ASALA victims was opened.
	The Day of Pilgrimage of St. Hovhannes Mkrtich Church of Romania Recently the day of pilgrimage of the Armenian St. Hovhannes Mkrtich (John the Baptist) Church was celebrated in the town of Pitesti of Romania. The festive Divine Liturgy was offered by Bishop Tatev Hakobyan, the Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Romania.
	Concert of Datevik Hovanesian in New York’s St. Vartan Cathedral On January 17, Haik and Alice Kavookjian Auditorium of New York’s St. Vartan Cathedral hosted the concert of the prominent jazz singer Datevik Hovanesian initiated by the Diocese of the Armenian Church of America (Eastern Diocese). The singer was accompanied her trio.
	Candlelight Divine Liturgy in the Mother Cathedral The Feast of the Holy Nativity starts in the evening of January 5. The vesper is followed by the Candlelight Divine Liturgy. Under the presidency of the Supreme Patriarch, a Candlelight Divine Liturgy was offered with the celebrant being Archbishop Paren Avedikian this year. The believers take the Great Tidings of the birth of Jesus Christ, the light and warmth of the Church to their houses from the spiritual center of All Armenians – the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
	Tale-telling competition at Zangak Printing House On the eve of the New Year, Zangak Printing House organizes the program “Fairy-Tale for My Grandchild” where the grandmothers tell tales to their grandchildren.
