House-shelter, part 1


Men, like any living body, have a need for self-defence. They are said to have built the very first house in order to satisfy that core need. However, a house is not there just for its physical significance. It has always gained deeper importance by its spiritual meaningfulness expressed at all times and with all nations. The first part of the TV program is about the applied and ritual-worship meaning of house-building, from prehistorical times to nowadays.

Ovsanna believes that her mission is to advocate for the rights of animals. She has established animal lovers “Dingo” Team to organize adoption of street animals, medical treatment of sick dogs etc. This voluntary work brings happiness to Ovsanna, any positive change is the biggest success of the activity she initiated.

Frescoes of Lmbatavank Renovated by Italians


Italian Armenian architect Ara Zaryan and art conservator Kristin Lamoreau, using their own funds, renovate the 7th century frescoes in Lmbatavank, situated 2 km to south-west of Artik.
The specialists are particularly amazed at the frescoes of St. Gevorg and St. Sargis, of which little have been left.

New Stamps on the Armenian Genocide


Heading towards 100th years’ commemoration of the Armenian Genocide, Hay Post has released three stamps dedicated to Johannes Lepsius, James Bryce and Aurora Mardiganian, a survivor of the Genocide.

Concert of Dmitri Hvorostovsky


Famous Russian baritone opera singer Dmitri Hvorostovsky and conductor Konstantin Orbelian are in Armenia. Within the framework of the 14th Yerevan Perspectives International Music Festival, on September 29 Dmitri Hvorostovsky performed in Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall. Konstantin Orbelian conducted the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra.

Results of the Bishop’s Synod Presented at the Press Conference

First Concert of Authentic Light Orchestra in Yerevan


On September 18, the Opera Theatre hosted a unique experiment. For the first time, the band Authentic Light Orchestra performed in Armenia. The Armenian-Swiss band presented its usual song-list to the Armenian listeners, but jointly with the Symphonic Orchestra and guest Armenian musicians.

Green Hospitality


WCC Inter-Church Round Table Foundation in Armenia, in cooperation with the Alliance of Religions and Conservation is implementing a complex programme called “Green Pilgrimage”. The programme also includes the initiative “Green Hospitality”; a centre of hospitality was established in Etchmiadzin to offer accessible, healthy and traditional food to tourists.

Such life-style was called “bohemia”. Today, this word raises different, but tempting and extraordinary associations. However, things are not as simple as they may seem.

The perception of bohemia changes over time. Controversial associations incite interest. There were expressions of bohemia in Armenian reality too. At present, the so-called “bohemia” rather carries the meaning of a “brand” and serves as a handy tool for commercial benefits.
