Information Carriers, part 2

Man has used information storage and transferring media – the carriers, since pre-historic times. Along with the development of carriers, big changes in the quality of public, cultural, political life take place. The industrial or technological revolution of 19th century makes an overturn in the area of information carriers: the photograph, telegram, film, radio and telephone are invented. The information carriers of 20^th century develop in a faster pace: the invention of computer, creation of networks change the world… every day.

Living by hearing

When a child is diagnosed with hypacusia in his early years, his family confronts a real dilemma in choosing the manner of communication – sign language or verbal speech? In case verbal speech is preferred, specialists assure that the priority should be given to the hearing prosthesis and surdopedagogical trainings.

How accessible are the hearing devices to the residents of Armenia? Do the families afford purchasing hearing device for their children, is there a respective state approach developed? All these issues are discussed by parents, physicans, audiometrists, respresentatives of state and public bodies.

ShavarshVardanyan

After ShavarshVardanyan, camera operator, director, returned from Leningrad, he was hired by “HayFilm” (Armenian Movies). Not long after, the Artsakh movement was started. In 1988-90-ies, from the very first days of Artsakh heroic battle, he took his video camera and went to the front line of battle. At present, owing to him, we have around 1200 hours of documentary materials from the period of war. The camera operator himself tells off-screen about the creation of that exceptional documentary.

“Paros” Chamber Choir

“Paros” Chamber Choir is unique, in its own way, in the world. The majority of Choir members are people with disabilities. Throughout its 20 years of existence, the Choir has won a number of international awards, participated in an extensive number of festivals. The musicians tell about their path, hardships and dreams in the “Rehearsal room”. Participants:

Ambassador of Children in Armenia

Mario Matus came to Armenia as a result of circumstances: his wife got an assignment of Ambassador of Brazil to Armenia. By the councel of one of his friends, Mario Matus visited Kharberd Specialised Orphanage, came to understand the issues children face and started seeking solutions. Owing to his efforts, many of the children can now talk, see, move independently, and they even learnt reading and writing. “This state that the children are in, is not because they chose to be, but they are there by a twist of fate. Therefore, we should do everything possible and impossible to improve their lives”.

Never-ending Avarayr

Priests of the Mother See, Rev. Father Shahe Ananyan and Father Vardan Navasardyan, present the sacrament of the Battle of Vartanantz and Avarayr across the evolution of times. What was the task of Avarayr in the 5th century and thereafter? What were the values to inspire the soldiers of Vartan? Do we now experience issues in respect to conscious existence of nation, preservation of statehood, as well as bringing up the generations with these values?

Father Koryun Karapetyan is the chaplain of the Armed Forces. He is a priest that took part in the Artsakh war. He's been next to the Armenian soldier -- in the Armenian Army, throughout most of the critical days for our nation up to day. His fellow-soldiers and spiritual friends - Rev. Fr.Mkrtich Tovmasian, Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, lieutenant colonel of military unit, Gagik Gevorgyan, soldier, and his son, Azat Karapetyan, tell about him.
