The first three centuries of Christianity are distinguished with prosecutions of Christians. The year 303 becomes a turning point when Christianity becomes prohibited under the edict of the Roman Emperor Diocletian and the prosecutions become even more intense. Young Barbara’s father, a state official, not only leads her, the new convict, to the court, but also asks to fulfil her martyrdom personally…
Barbara’s relics are scattered around the world, and powerful pilgrimages are built on these. The most famous pilgrimage of Saint Barbara in Armenia is the pilgrimage Tsakhkevank built on Mount Ara.
